1) Message boards : Suggestions : Fast CPU's

Hi,

I don't think, using a co-proccessor would be the best option. The clock speed is really low. It would do many tasks at the same moment, but none of them really fast. You theoretically can use those, but i wouldn'd really recommend this. It could also be that those co-processors don't even work with boic. And if you plan to use them with Windows 10, good luck. As far as I know, those aren't officialy supported and could therefore lead to regular system crashes. If you really use them, you should do it with Linux.

Also, because this is a co-processor and not a regular CPU, you have to use another processor, that then will be the main CPU. And your motherboard should be compatible with the Xeon Phi.

And also don't forget, that you need more than the on-die memory. With that many cores and threads, I'd recommend about 256 GiB to 512 GiB of Memory.

And last but not least, There is no guarantee that BOINC will work on the Xeon Phi. Please have that in mind.

Hi,

I think, this might be a little bit more comlplicated, than you might think, because boinc usually fetches more tasks when it thinks it should. I think, what you can do, if you have a possibillity to schedule, when your computer should be powered off, is configuring it in a way, it'll boot itself and shutdown itself. You should be able to setup this in your computer's BIOS. For more on this, you could check your motherboard's manual or look up the steps for your BIOS online. For the online information, your Motherboard manufacturer and BIOS version should be enough information.

Hope, this helps!

Hi,

I don't think, this will be implemented, as of now, because boinc is a platform donating ressources, one doesn't use. But you can write to the team at Berkley University that's behind boinc, if they can implement a function for this. I think, that might be a good idea, but it could also mean, that some people wont register for projects without payouts.

Hi,

sure, there is a way for doing so.

First, you open the Boinc Manager make sure, it's connected to the boinc instance. If you're running the default config, it should already be connected.
Then click on "options" in the menu bar and then on computing preferences. there you choose the tab "Daily schedule". There is everything you need to set your computing schedule. There you can check the box saying "Compute only between ____ and ____" And fill the blanks with your preffered time in the 24 hour format. For The days, that you want other scheduling for, you can simply activate the box with the day and enter the time again in the 24 hour format.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

For your information: This doesn't belong here. This is not a free advertising platform.
6) Message boards : Suggestions : Access login data for boinc projects

Hi,

I want to suggest, that users can view their login data for projects, they've participated in.
As example: Mostly there are notifications appearing in the boinc manager, that are redirecting to the project's page, but to view the notification, one has to log in into the project's account. So without knowing the credentials that's simply not possible.

Hope, this can be added as a feature in the future.
7) Message boards : Suggestions : Show BOINC cross-project ID on user home (su_home.php)

Hi,

I want to suggest that users can get their cross-project ID(s) in their user home page, so one can use that ID for the advanced certificate on the official BOINC page of the Berkley University. Could be helpful for some people, if they want a certificate with credits shown and other features of the certificate one can get on the Berkley University page.

Hope, this can be added as a feature in the future.
