Science United and COVID-19
(Message 407)
Posted 13 Apr 2020 by tullio Post: Science United is the second ranking user in GPUGRID, a biomedicine project based in Barcelona. It makes use of nVidia graphic boards, like my GTX 1060. Since Science United sends my Windows 10 PC mostly Milkyway@home tasks, when I see that the GPU is inactve I connect as a BOINC user to GPUGRID and download GPU tasks two at the time. Then I see that they are counted in my Science United Scientific Projects list as Science United tasks. I have added Biomedicine as my Science United preferences after Astronomy, Physics and Chemistry. Tullio |

Virtualbox & Boinc
(Message 389)
Posted 5 Apr 2020 by tullio Post: I download Virtual Box on both Windows and Linux separately from the OS by going to Oracle Virtual Box because there is the latest version. Oracle has the habit to upgrade Virtual Box very often and has no connection with boinc.berkeley.edu.But once installed with its Extension Package VB needs no particular attention. Tullio |

Virtualbox & Boinc
(Message 387)
Posted 4 Apr 2020 by tullio Post: I know a few projects that need VirtualBox, such some LHC@home tasks, although not all, idem Cosmology@home. I also have BOINC@TACC that needs VirtualBox but I have been unable to test it since I am swamped by Milkyway@home tasks, both CPU and GPU. I have a Linux Virtual Machine hosted on a Windows 10 PC, built using VirtualBox on the PC. Tullio |

When I run with Science United as my Manager, how are completed tasks on projects credited
(Message 383)
Posted 1 Apr 2020 by tullio Post: They are credited to Science United and you don't get any credit. I have done more than 38000 Milkyway@home tasks without getting any credit or badge. You only received a weekly letter of thanks by a BOINC admin stating how many hours you have lodged and how many tasks you have completed. Tullio |
