21) Message boards : Suggestions : Making it more difficult to remove a device from your device list
Message 614 Posted 19 Oct 2020 by tullio |
I think that it should not be a one click to remove a computer from your list of computers, as I believe that many people may accidentally delete one of their computers. No, because every time I get a kernel upgrade on my Virtual Linux Box running SuSE Tumbleweed, a development version which is update almost daily, I see a new pc on my device list and the earlier is not canceled. 22) Message boards : Problems : Science projects reports only few ones
Message 612 Posted 15 Oct 2020 by tullio |
Science United and BOINC are two different projects. I was connected to Science United but it gave me only Milkyway@home and Asteroids@home tasks , where I had no BOINC accounts. But I have BOINC accounts in 6 different projects, Einstein@home, LHC @home, GPUGRID.net, Rosetta@home, WCG@home, .QuChemPedlA@home. So I left in Science United only a Linux Virtual Machine on a Windows 10 PC. Tullio |

It seems OK to me. The only weak point might be the NVIDIA card. I have been running Milkyway@home on a Windows 10 PC with a GTX 1060 card and 3 GB of Video RAM. The only Linux box I have still enlisted in SU is a Virtual Linux machine with SuSE Tumbleweed, but since it is a Virtual Machine it cannot see the NVIDIA card and runs only CPU tasks. I have been running 44491 Milyway tasks, with 1065 failures. Tullio |

In SU go to your home page, select your computer and publish the page which shows its HW and SW configuration. Then maybe we can learn from it. Tullio |

In BOINC I can see the computers of other users by looking at their home page. Her it is not possible. Tullio |

If we could see your computer we might help you. Is virtualization enabled in BIOS? Tullio |

SU does not assign any credit to you. It gets them all. Tullio |

I have a BOINC account on WCG and I running their tasks both on a Windows 10 PC and a slower Linux box. I got three Gold Badges from WCG. On the Windows 10 PC which has a 24 GB RAM I have installed a Virtual Machine Linux box with Open SuSE Tumbleweed which is a development version with kernel 5.8.7-1. That is the only computer I have left to Science United since it used to send me only Milkyway@home and Asteroids@home tasks, and I wanted to take part in the COVID-19 efforts both in WCG and Rosetta@home. But now I see both WCG and Rosetta tasks running on it. Tullio |

An Atlas task takes about 3 hours and 14 minutes on 2 CPUs of my HP Pavilion desktop with a i5 CPU and 12 GB RAM. Tullio |

For this reason I left only one Linux Virtual Machine in Science United. The admins should read my posts and take corrective actions. Tullio |

I am running 6 BOINC projects which show their team (BOINC.Italy) in the BOINC Maager, plus whatever task Science United sends me. It sends me mainly Milkyway@home and Asteroids@home tasks, very little else. Tullio |
34) Message boards : Questions : When I run with Science United as my Manager, how are completed tasks on projects credited
Message 467 Posted 30 Apr 2020 by tullio |
Science United is not a team. I have several BOINC projects running from 2004,before joining Science United, and I chose the team BOINC.Italy for all them. When I see the projects I am running in the BOINC manager, projects running in Science United do not show any team. Tullio |

You only can access project sites if you already have a BOINC account on them. Tullio |

Science United is not a BOINC project but an Account Manager. Tullio |

Go to the BOINC home page and see the post by Dave. Most of the 100 Top users run Collatz. Tullio |

I have shifted most of my work to SU because I no longer want to take part in this farce of credits which vary from one project to another. Look at the list of Top100 users published by David Anderson. Tullio |
