1) Message boards : Suggestions : Disabling GPU
Message 629 Posted 16 Nov 2020 by vlado101 |
Hello, I was wondering if it would be possible in the future to give an option to disabling GPU computing. I am running BOINC on a laptop and if I get workloads that are GPU plus CPU then I am afraid of overheating it. I am using Tthrottle to help reduce temperature, but the problem is that if I use that then the compute time on both CPU and GPU become very slow and thus takes longer to complete both. Thank you |
2) Message boards : Questions : Disabling GPU from account settings

Hello, Does anyone know of a way to run Science United with just CPU after project selection? The reason is that I am using a laptop and running both CPU and GPU produces a lot of heat. As an example I would want to run the CPU SETI@home tasks, but not its GPU tasks. The only way I found is to exclude the project, which I don’t want to do. Thank you |
3) Message boards : Questions : Raspberry Pi

I think that it depends on the projects themselves. I have been using Raspberry pi 3 on Universe@home project and I know SETI uses them as well. I also use Raspberry Pi Linux version. I think that should be able to install BOINC from the command console and then after installed it should be as simple as attaching a client and seeing what work units you will get. |
4) Message boards : Problems : Getting failed workunits
Message 40 Posted 31 May 2018 by vlado101 |
Hello, I checked my account and see that I had worked on a couple of units for Rosseta@home however I see that 8 units failed while only 4 passed. I am not sure why because I had submitted work units to this project before with no issues. Is there a way to find out why they failed? Since ScienceUnited creates its own id I am not sure how I would see why it failed. Does anyone else have the same issue? |
5) Message boards : Questions : Which BOINC Version is Required?

Hi Doneske, I am curious as to how your account manager is working. I recently added the Sceince United account manager and have WCG running along side of it. I seem to be getting some work units, but then nothing for along time. I was also wondering how you installed the most current version of BOINC on your Ubuntu. I am running Ubuntu as a VirtualBox, but he Ubuntu repo seems to have an older version of BOINC. This might be a simple question but since you said you were able to install it I wanted to ask how you did it. I am excited about ScienceUnited so I am hoping to see it get more traction. |
6) Message boards : Questions : Should I remove previously attached projects?
Message 34 Posted 25 May 2018 by vlado101 |
Hello, I have been BOINC for a while to contribute to World Community Grid and Universe@home projects. I recently added the Science United manager and was wondering if I should remove the Universe@home project. Would having both Science United and Universe@home attached cause conflicts? Also if I complete tasks sent to my through Science United vs Universe@home would the point go to a new account created by Science United or by my old account with Universe@home? Thanks in advance. |
