Posted elsewhere with no answers given: These executables are not playing by the rules: they remain active and gobbling cpu cycles to the extent that my very fast main system is sometimes nearly unusable. Even snoozing BOINC allows these to keep running. Whatever they are I need to have the owners fix them or for someone to let me know what the project is so I can opt out of it.

If this keeps up I'm going to have to kill all projects on my fastest computer just to be free of them.

To answer my own question: it was the SRBase project that was propagating this defective software. It is hard to believe how much damage a dozen or more executables can cause with each one grabbing 3-6% of a fast i9 processor's CPU cycles but they were bringing my system to its knees on occasion making even typing impossible.
