I have an original Borg Cube PC built by Cherrytree that has Windows 10 on it. I never use that computer and am running BOINC on it for volunteer computing via my Science United account. It is overheating and I'm not sure what settings in BOINC to adjust so it can be free to do work but not overheat.

The CPU fan is doing its best to keep the CPU cooled, but it's not enough. It is always in mid 90's °C. I even cleaned off and applied new high quality thermal compound to see if that would help, but it didn't.

Can anyone recommend some settings I can apply in the BOINC "computing preferences" so it can do work but not overheat? I've so far tried using the "web prefs" and also tried some of my own settings I guessed at that might not put such a heavy load on the CPU, but that didn't help either. Any suggestions is much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

you could try TThrottle and keep check and adjust for Temperatures.

and temps at around 90^C up to 100^C on the CPU is perfectly fine. most CPUs are built with a "Tjunction" of 100°C if you need lower temps you can throttle it with above program.
