We changed things so that when Science United creates an account on a BOINC project, it uses a random (anonymous) name, password, and email address, rather than using the info from your Science United account. We did this in part to prepare for EU-GDPR (new rules involving data privacy) but it turns out to simplify SU (no need to deal with password mismatches). It also increases security because your email address and hashed SU password are no longer sent to projects. |

I've noticed that when I get a reference to having received a "private message" in my BOINC Notices tab for the Asteroids@Home project...if I try to go the Asteroids@Home site and log in with my Science United email address and password, I get a "no such user" error. Is this caused by the use of these random IDs and passwords? If so, I'm not sure how to read/access these messages. |

When I learned, that my computers work isn't recognized by any project I participated here, I decided to quit science-united altogether. So much for privacy protection: it is also a credit protection. |

Okand what happen if we already have an account in one of this project? SU create a dupe one? How can register on a project where SU create a random account? |

And how do we get access to these private messages or friend requests inside the BOINC Manager with only a Science United account? |

I have this same issue. Also, why when I click the plus sign does the rating not increase? |

I've posted a suggestion that this is actually an option rather than a blanket solution. GDPR allows you to process the data if you can reassure that "the data subject has given consent to the processing of his or her personal data for one or more specific purposes;" https://gdpr.eu/article-6-how-to-process-personal-data-legally/ https://scienceunited.org/forum_thread.php?id=144 |

That's fine, but I find the messages I was getting, apparently from specific projects, which are meaningless and I can't actually do anything about, really annoying. The first time one of these showed up, I spent a bunch of time dithering with it, and after finding out it was a waste of time, it meant to me that something was not working properly I stopped using SU and went back to my normal BOINC usage. If you figure out a way to stop this nonsense from showing up in my inbox (and yes I know how to write a rule to move them to trash) then maybe I'll come back. In the meantime, NOT. And I keep getting messages from you about no contact with my machines. I'll probably delete my account to get rid of that. Also, in the message boards, there's a "Questions" category, and people seem to be posting things there and no one answers. Someone commented they were more likely to get an answer out of Microsoft. |

Not good. Sorry, while I understand your approach to make boinc easy to use and user friendly, it totally collides with most, if not all users that have been using boinc before.
Yes, it seems to be like that. A new account with new email meaning a new cpid. Now I get "cpid errors" and mismatches when checking my progress on that projects side. For me, this is Bad with a capital B. |
