Detaching from SU results in at least CPU usage changing to 100% and use at most 60% cpu time...

Same problem here! I cannot get rid of SU web settings after detaching from SU!

After you stop using Science United, log into a project website and adjust Computing preferences on your account page.
The next time BOINC Manager communicates with that project the timestamp on your adjustment should make them your Global preferences.
