Hi, Having acquired a second hand pc with more computing power than I'd ever use, I though I'd donate its excess cycles to Science United. I have been running boinc for years on a server, running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. No issues there. The new installation uses Kubuntu 20.04. The first issue is that when I'm logged in, the GPU doesn't run, despite being set up to run when the computer is not being used. If I switch the suspend option off, the GPU runs but the graphics are slow to the point of being unusable. The second issue is that, on occasions, the root mail account is flooded with messages. /etc/cron.daily/cernvm-update-notification: and ... rsync: change_dir "/home/boinc/cernvm/shared/html/job" failed: No such file or directory (2) I suspect these are something to do with VirualBox. (I'm not a programmer!) Any ideas to fix these? I'm happy to assist if you need me to provide further information. If the GPU issue can't be fixed, I'll turn it off permanently. Thanks. |
