We at Science United hope that everyone is doing OK in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and all its effects. One of the science projects in Science United - Rosetta@home - is doing research involving coronavirus proteins; details are here. We have increased the allotment of Rosetta@home so that it will get most of the CPU power of Science United. Other projects may launch coronavirus-related research soon. We hope that Science United can help fight the pandemic. Thanks for participating, and stay well. |

Maybe update the Science and location preferences to include COVID-19 under Disease research in Biology and Medicine. So we can go ahead and manually select prefer, or if evil never. |

We have increased the allotment of Rosetta@home so that it will get most of the CPU power of Science United. I apologize if this is a stupid question, but what allotment are you talking about? Is this to be understood as that there is another laying of priority underneath what the user sets in su_prefs.php , so for example, if su_prefs.php equally prioritizes the science area of Rosetta@home AND a bunch of other things, then priority will at the moment be given to Rosetta@home? I assume if the su_prefs.php prioritizes another science area as Priority 1 and the science area of Rosetta@home as Priority 2, then this new change will not have any effect, except for if there is so little work to be done in Priority 1 projects that the client goes to look for Priority 2 projects? I'm a bit confused about how all the levels of project prioritization fit together. |

Science United is the second ranking user in GPUGRID, a biomedicine project based in Barcelona. It makes use of nVidia graphic boards, like my GTX 1060. Since Science United sends my Windows 10 PC mostly Milkyway@home tasks, when I see that the GPU is inactve I connect as a BOINC user to GPUGRID and download GPU tasks two at the time. Then I see that they are counted in my Science United Scientific Projects list as Science United tasks. I have added Biomedicine as my Science United preferences after Astronomy, Physics and Chemistry. Tullio |

I have recently joined Science United as a cpu contributor. I am very happy to donate spare cpu time to this very worthy cause. Like a lot of us I suspect, I am particularly interested in seeing a Covid-19 vaccine being developed in the shortest possible time and made universally available. However, I note that in recent times the president of the USA and his administration have seeming politicised the process and are now talking about "America First" and operation "Warp Speed" that essentially quarantine american research efforts to benefit the USA only. As an Australian and international person, I cannot possibly condone or support this narrow, bigoted, short-sighted attitude towards scientific development. I understand that some (or perhaps all) of the funding for Science United derives from the US National Science Foundation, award #1664190, and is based at the University of California, Berkeley. Accordingly, I would very much like to hear from the administrators of the Science United program that this very important project is not being compromised by this "policy" setting of the Trump administration. Can you please advise accordingly? Thank you for your time. |

new to this and happy to be a contributor I have 2 spare computers run 24/7 in office, and just installed 2 clients to run. |
