I'm running Catalina on an iMac and have been using World Community Grid and Bonic for almost 15 years and I just signed in with Science United.

I'm actually clueless about what all three groups do? I just let them use my system hoping they are not working on a sinister plot to take over the world

My question is when I come back to my computer my fan seems to be running very fast. I have done the usual unplugging the system, then waiting for the set number of seconds to pass, standing on my head, then plugging back in the system while waiting for the required number of seconds. That was no help so I did the required holding down the 37 keys on a cold boot and making sure I kept my eyes closed. Alas, that failed also.

Does anyone have an idea why my fans are running so fast?

Thanks

projects demand high computing power => high CPU usage => high CPU temperatures => high fan speed to cool things down.

MY GPU temperature is 65 C and my CPU temp is 67 C. No fan noise on a HP Omen PC with AMD Ryzen 5 1400 and nVidia GTX 1060.
