Connection Issue

Description
In most cases I cannot get the BOINC Manager to connect to your network. When I do connect I generally get disconnected within 30 seconds or less.
I am using BOINC Manager 5.10.30 and I use localhost for my computer's name.
Is there anything I can do to resolve this issue?

It would also be useful to know more about your local network - home, university/school, work?
What sort of internet connection do you have (broadband, dialup, wireless, ...)?
Do you use a firewall, and which one?
Do you use a proxy server, and which one?

My question relates to the connection from the core client to the project servers, while David's question relates to the connection from the boinc manager to the core client (both on your PC). If you're seeing 'disconnected' in the lower right of the boinc manager then David's question is the most relevant.
If you open up 'task manager', 'processes', do you see 'boinc.exe' in the list?

Trac isn't for troubleshooting.
Is the core client crashing? If so, what's in stderrdae.txt?
Please indicate platform and attached projects.
