Improvements to team searching

Description (last modified by Nicolas)

I would like to suggest an improvement be made for joining a team on the webpages.

I've been asked several times on our forum by project participants, how do I join our team. I can understand everyone is not computer literate and don't consider their questions 'dumb' and giving them instructions to help them along. But recently I tried this myself again and think I figured out why people don't seem to know how to do this.

It's not that they don't know how to search for a team, it's that they can't find us in the list always, especially on Seti@home which has very many teams.

Our team is just 'USA'. If they search for 'USA' only 100 results are displayed and also this message 'More than 100 teams match your search. The first 100 are shown.', of which we are not listed, so they don't find us.

My suggestion:

  • Display exact matches first and then the ones containing a partial match as you currently do, and/or,
  • add a 'Next 100' link so they can display the next 100 partial matches.

I'm sure this affects a lot of teams especially on big projects.

Fixed in [14273].

David, Trac has no idea how to read checkin_notes! Only the SVN log can do automatic ticket closing, so things like [14274] aren't really useful.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
