Description
We're assessing the feasibility of integrating BOINC's web features with Drupal (an excellent and actively-developed framework for social web sites). Wherever possible, BOINC features would be replaced by their Drupal counterparts (forums, profiles, etc.).
The intended effects of this are:
- To make it easier for projects to have good-looking, distinctive web sites.
- To make it easier for projects to add content to their sites.
- To eliminate most of BOINC's web code (and thus not have to maintain it anymore, which is time-consuming and orthogonal to the purpose of doing distributed computing).
This is is at least 6 months off, and we'll provide a migration path so projects don't have to switch to Drupal right away.
