Description
BOINC Manager, Tasks tab. If any task is selected, which is not capable of launching graphics (not supporting, suspended or finished), the grayed-out Show graphics button is very briefly flashing it's state to active with a 1 second period.
It does not happen if no app line is selected - the button quietly stays grayed-out. If graphics-conform task is selected, the button is in active state and again quiet.

Omitted to say - on WinXP. The button is possibly enabled and immediately disabled in a 1 second communication refresh interval.
The selected line does not flash here. Neither anything else under other tabs.

Bumping priority - this sounds like it would be really annoying...
Selected line flashing briefly (1/30th second probably) on every list update is kind of expected.

How did you install BOINC? As a private or public install? All users on the system that can run BOINC enabled or not?

Fortunately it is not, you have to observe the button for at least 1-2 seconds to notice it. But there might be some programming error behind (if the button is really being shortly enabled).

[ ] Use BOINC Screensaver [X] Protected application execution. [ ] Allow all users on this computer to control BOINC

Summary: | Manager's 'Show graphics' button is periodically flashing → Manager's 'Show graphics' and 'Abort' buttons are periodically flashing |
---|
The flashing period is identical with the moment when CPU time, Progress and To completion columns are refreshed.

Slowing the CPU down a lot causes the button being visually enabled for much longer periods (few tenths of second), sometimes even more than a second. But clicking on them does not cause anything noticeable.
If an aborted task is selected, both Show graphics and Abort button are flashing in tandem -> nothing in common with graphics subsystem, it's probably just the buttons handling.

On 6.3.10: The newly added Properties button is flashing too, it is disabled while Show graphics (and Abort) button(s) are enabled, and vice versa.
comment:8 Changed 16 years ago by
On 6.3.14: Neither of the Show graphics, Properties and Abort buttons is flashing anymore.

I'm not seeing that on Windows XP. I do see the selection bar flashing though. As if something is refreshed.
