Make BOINC more efficient for corporate networks

Dear BOINC Development Team,

My name is Maxim, I'm IT Manager running a few offices with a few dozens of servers and a couple of hundreds of computers, doing typical regular work for a corporate.

Typical operation of office requires me to maintain and support "all to be working fine" during office hours, from 0900 to 1800. After 18:00, office is closed and all over the the night all servers and PCs are powered on but useless for the project you do. I can setup the BOINC client to all of them -it would be OKAY for me and would be GREAT GREAT donation to the project computing power which potentially could save a few years of calculations, as every night and every weekend a few dozens of quite powerful hardware is just standing in the office doing nothing.

To support me in that initiative, some changes to preferences and client scheduling settings should be made. This is quite critical, as current BOINC is inefficient for that fine-tuning.

WHAT IS REQUIRED:

1) two set of similar settings should be available in BOINC Processor Usage preferences. One section should be like now - leave it intact - where i can select "PC is in use" and then select days and time suitable for me with maximum CPU percentage to be used. SECOND SECTION (which doesn't exist now and should be added to the client preferences for processor usage) is separate section with similar to 1st section settings ONLY for PC is not used, with per-day and within hours setiings with ability to set different CPU load for that section.

OKAY, let me express another way - during office hours I need to limit BOINC operation by days and by hours with separate CPU load setting (PC is in use - usually "minimal" load). For off-duty hours, I need the same settings (by days and hours) but with separate CPU load setting (usually "maximum" load).

This change would allow to utilize PC resources most effectively in the corporate networks, hiding BOINC activity from end-users and not affecting them by slowing down the PC operation during office hours.

Now, as I see and you may know - there is only just one setting for CPU load and the configuration flexibility for day / night different configuration in BOINC is very limited. If I set CPU load for 30% during the day, while computer is in use, I cannot setup automatic switch to 90% for 18:00-08:00 on Mon-Fri and 100% for 00:00-23:59 on Sat-Sun. CAN YOU NOW UNDERSTAND THAT ISSUE???? MANY RESOURCES ARE LOST WITH CURRENT SETTINGS IN BOINC CLIENT - THEY ARE INEFFICIENT!!! PLEaSE CHANGE TO MORE FLEXIBILITY!!!

If you program BOINC so, many IT managers, System Admins and network Engineers would be happy to share their corporate resources to donate its free time for BOINC computing.
