Description

BOINC Client (Graphical) -- when starting up on "Disk" tab shows strings of numbers.

Not only does it do this for "total disk use", but to a lesser degree it does it with "disk usage by BOINC projects".

However, the "total disk use" startup error is almost always the most SHAMEFUL EYESORE.

The flaw lasts about 2 - 6 seconds. It can be duplicated repeatedly.

MY SUGGESTED SOLUTION -- ADD "Defult values" for disk space so that the desplay algorythem can use them 1st -- THEN continue with the discovery code to determine how disk space is being used

Fix level of complexity added: -- I am assuming no more than 30 lines of code, less than 100 lines impacted. -- Defult disk usage params can be global constants if need be.

I would submit a file showing the error, but I lack proper screen capture eqipment.

What OS and version of BOINC?

Use the print screen button on the keyboard to capture a screen shot. You may need to use it in combo with shift/control/fn depending on your specific keyboard (works on Win/Lin?, Mac has it's own method).

Or the Alt key + Printscreen to capture only the active window (the one in focus). You can then use something like the freeware !Quick Screen Capture to save the screengrabs into BMP/JPG/GIF format. The smaller the better if you want to attach it here.

I did later when I issued a similar bug report, but with the Win OS image. I assume Macs have the same problem. Thus the lack of being specific. This problem has affected "current verions" >4.0 for some time.

I looked for this ticket, but could not find it. The Search feature for this site is really bad. I don't know if I will be able to find the other ticket related to this one. I have been using BBS's and websites since the late 1980s -- so it is not my fault here.

You can look in the Timeline for your ticket, use the Advanced Search to only search on tickets, or else use the View Ticket option to filter for your tickets and/or bookmark something like this custom query to see all. You can then remove those filters you don't need.
