Description
Posted by: Date: 4:30 AM 06-02-2005 After several weeks of trying to figure out a strange and annoying problem, I think I've tracked it down to BOINC. Basically, it seems that after my BOINC screen saver has been running, something seems to get "stuck" in memory that affects video playback codecs, or possibly DirectX (Not sure if that's even what BOINC uses on Win32). I can play video files fine before, but they're choppy after. Even if I suspend BOINC and CPU usage is minimal, videos still play choppy. I tried quite a few things to figure this out, but have discovered that if instead of suspending BOINC I exit it, the videos are fine again.
The videos play even while BOINC is running, and BOINC properly stops computing if I suspend it - CPU usage drops to nearly nothing. But once the screen saver has been running, somehow that seems to make videos choppy.
I know that's not much helpful information, but I'm not sure exactly what you might need. I'm happy to gather any info you need that might be useful - just let me know!
This is probably a driver issue as I can not repro on my machines.
