Graphics seem to be volatile. Even on the 5.9 alpha build. The "Show Graphics" button is frequently greyed out in applications that I know have graphics (Einstein, Rosetta, Seti) for macs. So what is going on? Why are graphics vanishing and how i can get them back?

As requested, here is some info abotu the machine I am using

It is a 4 x 2.5 Ghz Power PC G5 Mac running Os 10.4.9 with 4.5 GB Ram

I also run it on a power book (same OS version), where the problem seems not to exist.(sorry don't have the processor details handy at the moment)

I have noticed this behavior after my macbook pro goes to sleep or hybernation. when the machine comes out of sleep mode, a re-install of the client will re-enable screensaver graphics, but only untill the next time it is suspended.

MacBook? Pro 2.16ghz C2D 1gig Ram

I have not been able to reproduce this. I have a few questions for both of you:

(1) When the Show Graphics button is grayed out, are you sure that the selected task is shown as "Running"?

(2) You can only use the Show Graphics button when the Activity Menu is set to "Run Always", otherwise moving or clicking the mouse will suspend the application so the Show Graphics button will be grayed out. Do you have the Activity Menu set to "Run Always"?

(3) Are both of you saying that you are seeing both the disabling of the Show Graphics button and the screensaver failing?

(4) When the screensaver kicks in, do you see "Connecting to BOINC Client" for a short time, or is the screen blank from the very start?

(5) Set the Activity Menu to "Suspend" or set "Snooze" from the BOINC icon menu, and then start the screensaver either using the hot corner or by waiting for the timeout. Do you see "BOINC is currently suspended" or a blank screen?

(6) Have you checked the Screen Saver System Preferences to make sure that the BOINCSaver is selected and the timeout, hot corners and "Options/Go? to blank screen" and are all properly set? What happens if you turn off the "Go to blank screen" checkbox?

Thanks for yout assistance.
