boinc manager menu broken on Linux

The menu bar in BOINC Manager almost disappears upon connection to client. If the client is not running, the menu appears fine, once you start the client, the menu shrinks (and does not recover when you stop the client again).

Versions tested: 6.10.58, 6.12.35 (using wxGTK-2.8.12)
