== Magazines ==

We should encourage all magazines related to computing and science to publicize BOINC.
There are several ways to approach a magazine:

* Write a letter to their "Letters to the Editor" department describing BOINC.
* Write a letter encouraging them to run a story on BOINC.
* Write a letter encouraging them to include BOINC on any CD/DVD that they include with their magazine.
* Write a letter encouraging them to "cross-promote" with BOINC. Possibilities include having them develop a "private label" version of the BOINC client with their logo, creating teams on all the BOINC projects, and so on.
* If they have Web-based forums, join them and post about BOINC in the appropriate forum.

With any of these, stress the points:

* It's not just SETI and prime numbers any more; the science projects include everything medical research to studying global warming.
* With BOINC, you're not locked in to one project. You can run as many as you want, and change whenever you want. You see your credit totals all in one place.
* BOINC gives you extensive control over when and how your computer is used, including CPU throttling and day-of-week preferences.
* BOINC is open source, and many of the projects' applications are too. It's possible (and encouraged) for volunteers to optimize applications for specific architectures.

If you want to encourage the magazine to support a specific team, that's fine.
If you contact a magazine, please add a note to the web page
so that there's not too much duplication of effort.
Please have the magazines contact [ProjectPersonnel David Anderson] for general info.
