1) Message boards : Questions : Computing Use options? (Message 400) Posted 7 Apr 2020 by wulf 21 Post: Guess it is a writing error on this website. The BOINC client has no option to stop computing when computer is idle, only when it is in use. And the website is only remote controlling BOINC client options, there is absolutely no way the website can invent a new option that is not there in BOINC client in the first place. So probably it is controlling the tick "stop computing when computer is in use" and the text on the website should precisely say that.
2) Message boards : Suggestions : Allow opt-out anonymization (Message 399) Posted 7 Apr 2020 by wulf 21 Post: A General waiver "allow my personal data to be sent anywhere" wouldn't really be GDPR compliant. It is built to make people aware of what is done with their data, so it requires an explicit opt-in in the form of "I allow my data to be sent to organization XYZ". The cleanest way would be to allow this as a 2 step process in the projects section, where you first need to create your own account on the projects page (offer link to open page in new window) - so you must actively give your personal email to the preoject first - and then after this is done have an option "use my own account" that allows you to store your account credentials on this website, so it will attach the project with them on next sync.
3) Message boards : Problems : Don't want to use my GPU (Message 398) Posted 7 Apr 2020 by wulf 21 Post: unfortunately this website does not have this option in web settings, but you can still set this in the local settings on your machine. Unfortunatley my BOINC is in German, so I hope I get the name of the settings right. Go to options --> computing preferences. There you can Tick the "pause using Graphics processor while computer is in use" (or similar) and you can define a time since last input in minutes, to define what "in use" means. This should solve your issue. Also, on a laptop you pobably want to use "pause computation while running on battery" (or similar) - but I think this is turned on by default. Click OK to take over the settings. Doing this will effectively override the settings on website with your local preferences, so the website computation preferences will do nothing after configuring this locally. (You can undo this by clicking the "use web preferences button in the same window). I understand that this website is built to make using BOINC as easy as possible - but this should really be an option on the website, additionally to the 3 computing preferences the site offers.
4) Message boards : Problems : "Delete Account" not working (Message 390) Posted 5 Apr 2020 by wulf 21 Post: Hello, I tested it out and don't want to use it anymore. However, after entering my password on https://scienceunited.org/delete_account_request.php, i don not get a confirmation E-Mail, despite the site saying "Confirmation Email Sent.". Sent it multiple times, checked my spam folders, checked that the correct e-mail adress is saved on my account page. But still no confirmation e-mail.
