1) Message boards : Suggestions : Allow opt-out anonymization (Message 403)

That would be a very stringent representation of the GDPR, which would be a nightmare for any data processor. The processing of data (which includes "disclosure by transmission") is lawful so long as "the data subject has given consent to the processing of his or her personal data for one or more specific purposes;". The specific purpose here is to manage science projects that run on the users system. If that's not enough, it's allowed if "processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party or in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract;". Which again, we create an account on SD so we can manage our hosts boinc instances.

Please, post the specific articles that refer to consent, as I didn't see them in the https://gdpr.eu/ page.

I've posted a suggestion that this is actually an option rather than a blanket solution. GDPR allows you to process the data if you can reassure that "the data subject has given consent to the processing of his or her personal data for one or more specific purposes;" https://gdpr.eu/article-6-how-to-process-personal-data-legally/

Account > Science projects > *Select a project* > Exclude

That should achieve what you are asking. In prevents Science United from adding that project to your account. Boinc also allows you to set "No new tasks", but I'm not sure if that overrides the manager.

Hi,

I would really like to be able to see my hosts impact in the BOINC network as individual and as a team member. But for that, I need to be able to have my hosts attached to my account in the different projects I contribute to. Currently the manager assigns our hosts to a generic account in Science United name, and I would like if I could opt out of that method and share my email and account details with the projects if I decide to do so. Could this be implemented in a "privacy" settings?

Also, some projects only allow you to report problems when you accumulated X amount of points (Einstein@home is an example of such project). That means that if a host has trouble with the project, it cannot ask for assistance of the project owners.
